Berchtold Focus and History
In 1922 Theodor Berchtold founded the company in Tuttlingen Germany. His aim was to produce first-class surgical instruments. Over the next three family generations Berchtold became a market leader in surgical operating room technology.
On April 15, 2014 Stryker Corporation completed the acquisition of Berchtold Holding AG (Berchtold), a maker of surgical and operating room lighting for over 90 years. Berchtold’s product portfolio focused on surgical lighting systems, equipment booms, and operating room tables. Combining these solutions with Stryker Endoscopy’s existing equipment portfolio created a comprehensive suite of products for the operating room environment.
