The Opportunity

The Alliance for Medical Outreach and Relief, also known as AMOR, is a non-profit based Fresno, California. In 2009, AMOR took on the task of outfitting the Ashfar Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan. The 100-bed facility was the first non-profit hospital with charitable programs in the country. The project was a major undertaking that involved the retrofitting of a kitchen, laboratory, laundry facility, and surgical unit. In addition to the construction, AMOR also needed to source an extensive list of medical equipment.

In order to simplify their efforts, AMOR sought a one-source equipment provider to centralize ordering and streamline the purchasing process. AMOR also wanted to work with a company that understood the Afghan market and could work within the organization's budget.

Our Solution

After an extensive online search to locate a company that was approved to work with USAID, AMOR Director of Hospital Operations Dr. Mark Scoffield found Med Vest Technology Global Outreach. Avante's website offered Dr. Scoffield a comprehensive selection of equipment that included technical specifications and other valuable information.

Dr. Scoffield visited the Med Vest Technology Global Outreach headquarters and through detailed conversations with Med Vest Technology, he knew that Med Vest Technology was very capable of handling a large, complex project. Med Vest Technology presented Dr. Scoffield with multiple options, allowing the AMOR team to customize their equipment to meet the challenge of seeing an average of 8,000 patients per month.

I have seen this organization, meaning Avante, change lives. The on-going relationship with Med Vest Technology has been excellent. (Med Vest Technology representatives) have been readily and consistently available and responsive to questions, and a resource when equipment challenges (which have been minimal) arose.

AMOR and Director of Hospital Operations

In addition to providing medical equipment throughout the entire hospital, Med Vest Technology Global Outreach also offered custom stainless steel products for several areas of the facility. Med Vest Technology also outsourced additional pieces of equipment to centralize shipping and address budget concerns. The Med Vest Technology team helped to facilitate the importation of shipments and equipment training for local medical and support staff.
