Educational facility uses grant funds to expand nursing simulation spaces with cost-effective equipment from Med Vest Technology

Founded in 1972, Baldy View ROP is a public school agency, accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, that provides career and technical education to California’s adult and high school populations.

Baldy View is part of the West End Corridor Consortium, a 2017 recipient of the Career Technical Education Grant awarded by the California Department of Education. Utilizing the awarded funds, Baldy View expanded its Vocational Nursing Program facilities.

The work required the refurbishment of two spaces, Baldy View ROP and Upland High School, in order to convert or update them into the medical simulation laboratories. As an experienced provider of medical equipment, Med Vest Technology was selected as a partner to identify and install a variety of equipment and supplies.

Christine Pendergraph, Special Projects & Grants Liaison for Baldy View, said it was difficult to find medical equipment vendors with the breadth of service offerings necessary to complete the project until she found Med Vest Technology.

Med Vest Technology was, “very helpful and responsive,” Pendergraph said. “We secured a preliminary quote and proceeded to the required bidding process on our end. Med Vest Technology was successful in securing the bid and we began getting approvals for the capital outlay items.”

Med Vest Technology consulted with Pendergraph and Upland High School instructor Marie Sliney and sourced a variety of new and New capital equipment for the project, including simulation screens and doors, exam room furniture and cabinetry, hospital beds and cribs, autoclaves, and diagnostic equipment.

In addition to procuring a full complement of medical equipment, Med Vest Technology also offered planning and installation services. The company provided detailed floor plan design examples, helping to visualize the room’s eventual layout. Med Vest Technology also created a comprehensive equipment list for the project, with each product and supply detailed and web links to further information.

Baldy View ROP’s collaboration with Med Vest Technology resulted in a fully-developed skills lab that will provide positive educational experiences for years to come.

“Baldy View ROP and Upland High School now have a state of the art showplace that we happily love to show off to anyone who visits,” Sliney said. “The students have advanced their skills because they now have the opportunity to practice with the equipment prior to their internships rather than just reading about it.”
