Montebello, NY – October 19, 2015 – Oncology Services International (OSI), the world’s leading independent service organization for radiation oncology devices, announced it will launch a new service, OSI Academy, providing linear accelerator training to clinical and biomedical engineers seeking to strengthen their in-house service capabilities.
OSI’s long history of supporting its Field Service Engineers with extensive hands-on training positions it as the only alternative to OEM’s traditional reluctance to share expertise with in-house engineers. In March 2015, OSI opened a new linear accelerator training and testing center that includes multiple dedicated training machines, plus the only testing vault owned and operated by an independent service provider.
"Today, more than ever, hospitals and radiation therapy facilities are challenged to explore cost-effective alternatives to OEM service contracts. OSI believes working in partnership with hospitals and health systems desirous of staffing for service internally should be one such alternative," stated Richard J. Hall, President and CEO. "Leveraging our industry-leading training facility and faculty reinforces our commitment to partnering with our customers to deliver outstanding care."
OSI Academy training will be delivered at its Lakewood, NJ training and testing facility with customized scheduling depending upon customer background and needs. It will build upon the increasing demand for such training and OSI’s experience in delivering it to clinical engineers as well as international service firms. OSI’s successful joint venture in China has proven that such training is needed globally.
Course reservations are now being taken for 2016.
"OSI’s growing share of service business and increasing success at ‘shattering the myth’ of OEM-exclusive technical skills makes this the right time to expand our services to include training," concluded Hall.
