Maintaining/Sanitizing Telemetry Devices
This week, we asked Gadier Rodriguez, Technician Supervisor for Med Vest Technology, for his tips on maintaining and properly sanitizing valuable telemetry devices. Read his tips below:
It is important to maintain your device by doing a thorough sanitizing procedure. You will want to follow the OEM recommended cleaning agents and use a lint free towel and ESD-Safe cleaning brush.
- Start by cleaning any visible surface contamination on the exterior of the device including service ports, it is important to be careful with the connector pins to prevent any damage.
- Next, open the battery compartment to clean the inside and remove any dirt, dust, and debris that can be built up or cause corrosion around the battery contacts.
- After you have sanitized the device, let the device air-dry or dry with a non-lint cloth.
- It is important to perform a mechanical inspection on the transceiver by testing any connectors, battery door opening and closing, and service buttons.
- Finally, you will need to do a performance test on the device to verify that the device is functioning properly. You can use a patient simulator to test accordingly.
