It’s #TechTipTuesday! Welcome to our weekly series where we ask members of the biomedical community about their tips and recommendations for maintaining medical equipment. This week we’re asking, “What tips do you have when it comes to patient monitors?”

How to Set Up the Printer on a GE Dash 3000, 4000, or 5000 Monitor

This week, we asked Mai Sumlut, Senior Technician Supervisor at the Med Vest Technology San Clemente Center of Excellence, for his tips on troubleshooting printer issues on the GE Dash monitor series. Read Mai's advice below:

  1. First, turn on the unit.
  2. Click on More Menus.
  3. Monitor Setup.
  4. Click on Service Mode.
  5. Fill in the password. The passcode is the day and the month (e.g. 0212). Then click on Service Mode.
  6. Monitor Setup.
  7. Set unit name and set bed number.
  8. Go back to Main Menu.
  9. Monitor Setup.
  10. Print Setup.
  11. Select another care unit.
  12. Select the name of the unit you just set up.
  13. Select Manual Print Location > Print Alarm Location > Print Window Location.
  14. Click Print.
