It’s #TechTipTuesday! Welcome to our weekly series where we ask members of the biomedical community about their tips and recommendations for maintaining medical equipment. This week we’re asking, “What tips do you have when it comes to defibrillators?”

How to Reset the Service Light on a Lifepak 20 Defibrillator Monitor After Service

This week, we asked Mai Sumlut, Senior Technician Supervisor at the Med Vest Technology San Clemente Center of Excellence, for his tips on resetting a service light and error code on the LifePak 20 Defibrillator/Monitor after it has been serviced. Mai said this can sometimes happen when the customer sends in their LifePak for repair but doesn’t include the battery. Read Mai’s tips below:

  1. Press and Hold EVENT and OPTIONS Buttons, it will take you to Setup Mode passcode
  2. Enter passcode “0000”
  3. Setup mode, click Service
  4. Enter passcode “0000”
  5. Status
  6. Service Log
  7. Click on Clear Log and click “Yes”
  8. Turn off the unit and turn it back on
  9. The service light should now be turned off. If you have followed these steps and the service light on your LifePak 20 is still on, you should send your unit back in for service.
